f/w 08.09 nyc: bill blass.

Uncategorized

bill blass has been boring for me since lars nilsson was incremoniously fired from the house after the f/w 03.04 show. new creative director peter som showed a modern yet true to the house collection for pre-fall, and continued that theme for fall. the first half of the show was neutral themed daywear with checked suits, silk tie blouses, metallic tweed skirts, and cropped flyaway jackets.

Two-thirds of the show was cocktail and eveningwear, and this is where the collection really shined. i loved the tuxedo dresses, sleeveless waterfall ruffled shirts, dresses in floral pailette, draped dotted tulle and mohair fringe, halter blouses, and satin gowns. there was also lots of fur, from trimmed cardigans to two tone chevron coats. after two strong collections, i look forward to seeing what som does with blass in the future.
