the short-over-long trend isn’t a new one: one of phillip lim’s first hits in 2007 was a sweaterdress with a longer hem slipdress underneath. in phoebe philo’s first collection for celine, she showed an a-line linen skirt over an oversized white button front shirt. it trickled to other designers, like vivienne westwood (whom blake lively is wearing above) and even down to the styling in a j.crew catalog. last night, i was flipping through the new marie claire at work and found the image below. the pieces are les copains…a bit out of my price range but i’m still keen on trying this trend, as i love shirtdresses and minis. it’s all about finding the right proportion for both pieces. any trends–new or old–that you’re keen on trying?
