a few weeks ago, i went to new york for a combination of personal time and blog time. it was a short trip, but being in new york even for a few days is wonderful for me in terms of recharging and getting inspired. last year i did a collaboration with wingate by wyndham highlighting how they are the perfect choice for travelers who need to stay connected and productive while on the go, and i was lucky to stay at their new location in midtown manhattan.
the wingate new york midtown south/5th ave is 3 blocks south of bryant park and 2 blocks from herald square, so it’s super convenient to just about everything. it took only a few minutes to get to the subway and be uptown at the met or downtown to soho, the west village, and fashion week locations like spring studios. and being right off fifth avenue means you’re very close to all of the shopping, from bergdorf goodman and saks, to zara, h&m, and the new nike innovation center.
my room was perfect for a 4 day stay, with an amazing king size bed, fridge, flat screen tv, keurig coffee/tea maker, plus a steamer (a first for me in a hotel!) and a comfortable desk. the free breakfast was enough to fill me up each morning (hello fresh made waffles!) and meant i didn’t have to venture out or spend extra money. i loved coming back to my room after a day of exploring, making a cup of tea and getting some work done or answer emails. the room was bright, comfortable and most of all quiet! you’d think being close to herald square there would be a lot of street noise, but the hotel is set back from the sidewalk (and has a sitting area) and only has 4 rooms per floor. i also lucked out with a room that had a gorgeous view of the empire state building…so cool to wake up to that every morning!
the hotel has only been open a few months, so a few amenities are coming soon like a larger communal work area/business center and a gym, so it’s going to become an even better spot to stay in manhattan if you need to be centrally located, stay connected, and get things done. and as wingate is part of the wyndham family, you can earn wyndham rewards points which can be used across their various hotels and brands (and you can earn bonus points and get the best deals by booking through wyndhamhotels.com/wingate). big thanks to the wingate team for comping my stay…i’m feeling ready to tackle some upcoming creative projects!
