this skirt was one of my first purchases from a runway show: the balenciaga spring 2005 collection. i remember walking around the laurel heights neighborhood and stopping into susan, a wonderful boutique there that sells the top european designers (well before barneys arrived) and has amazing sales. well it was on those sale racks that i found this skirt, which has a gorgeous asymmetrical peplum and a gold zipper from waist to hem. it’s one of those pieces that may have seemed period-specific, but it’s truly something that works long past it’s runway date.
*funny story, i also found the gladiator sandals from that collection on sale at susan, passed on them, but later found them on ebay.
