i’ve talked about my love for all things prep like here and here, but truth be told, besides blazers, the thing i loved wearing more than anything back in the day was a rugby. i remember ordering them from j. crew or shopping their store in south street seaport or the benetton store on the rutgers campus to get them in different stripe combos (my favorite was the purple and hunter green, and red and black, which were rutgers colors). as the jenna-fication of j. crew happened, rugbies died out, as did my love for them. when the ralph lauren brand rugby launched in 2004 with the option to customize your rugby, the affair was re-newed, but again, only for a short time. now with j. crew re-launching so to speak, they are bringing back many classic pieces, including the rugby. this time it’s sized for women (and men and kids) and includes dresses! i picked this one up earlier in the year but there are new color combos coming out all the time…including this crisp black and white which will go with everything.

it’s a given to pair it with denim, but i wanted to do a dressier take on it and this asos skirt was the perfect match. because the prints are in such a large scale, i kept the accessories sleek and in solid black—these 80s feeling cone heel sandals and my trusty future glory bag. if print mixing isn’t your thing, it would look great with a black pencil skirt or a wide leg trouser and block heel ankle boot.

i’m excited to be heading back to nyc tomorrow for the fohr influencer conference. many moons ago, i loved going to conferences (like lucky fabb and the ifb one), but i felt they started saying the same things and i wasn’t getting much value for the expense of going. i joined fohr early on, and i’ve really loved the platform, the team, and james nord, especially his “drink with james” youtube series. can’t wait to get more tools to continue to grow in this space, catch up with new and old friends, and see nine inch nails at radio city music hall!

have a great rest of the week…
