as a blogger, you tend to have friends that are bloggers or follow other bloggers, and as a result your style and shopping is influenced by them. ones who sometimes share my fashion sense and some that push me outside my sartorial sense. one of those people is karen from where did u get that, who not only has amazing style but also has taken to youtube to dish out her favorite shopping finds. which is how i discovered this silk leopard pring skirt from relisation par, which then led me down a rabbit hole of many other bloggers who also have it. there are times when i see an “it thing” and know immediately it’s not my thing (or i’d just be jumping on a trend), and there other times that you can see something and know you can make it your own. it’s almost like a blank canvas for your own style. i think the major issue with it items is that you end up buying something that really isn’t you. the cult gaia ark bag? i know tons of people who have it, like my friend annie, but it’s also soooo her. this skirt though, a silk bias cut slip of a skirt in the most perfect leopard print? well that’s all me. i just wish i had discovered it before everyone else…haha! i made it not so precious by pairing it with a crisp button down in another dotty print (still can’t part with polka dots!), a belt bag, and my trusty céline bam bam sandals (fyi, these took a while to break in—although i’ve heard the suede version is easier—but definitely worth the price…so versatile). so do i have regrets buying the skirt of the season? since i’ve already worn it about a dozen times, i’d have to say no…
what are your thoughts on it items? did instagram make you do it or do you run for the hills?
