spring 2015 new york: altuzarra.

collections Uncategorized

who knew that gingham (and stripes and pearls) could be so risqué? apparently joseph altuzarra did, because his spring collection was all about a more restrained version of sexy. the inspiration came from rosemary’s baby and barry lyndon, both beautiful films but there is clearly something sinister underneath. the first section was all gingham suiting separates, shirtdresses unbuttoned down to (and up to) there, and high waisted pants, then he moved into body-wrapping stripes, latticed leathers, and pearl beaded evening dresses. it was provocative in a way that wasn’t vulgar or showy…because we should leave something to the imagination.
