i know we’re past the holidays but that doesn’t mean your “holiday” clothing immediately goes to the back of the closet (except maybe your ugly santa sweaters). you know that blazers are a cornerstone of my wardrobe, and i had been on the hunt for a tartan one, preferably a tuxedo version. enter this gorgeous ralph lauren red tartan double breasted blazer i found on sale right before christmas. it has beautiful details, like wool with a lovely drape, satin lapels, and covered buttons. i sized up to give it a slouchier fit and a bit of length that would work with slimmer bottoms. i’ve been wearing ralph lauren blazers for years. my first one was a vintage navy wool one with a gold crest on the pocket that i found right before i went to college that i would wear with pegged levi’s—look how things come full circle. the shapes and fabrics are always classics that you’ll have forever.
since the blazer can have a bit of a masculine vibe, i matched it with another sale purchase, this tibi white twill midi skirt. the fabric is almost denim like—denim skirts have become another wardrobe staple, so this color and length give me new options. with this darker plaid, it lightens up the blazer and makes it seasonless. get ready to see both of these pieces more and more as i think up more ways to remix them.
