go/see/buy: coach fall 2014.

collections go/see/buy

last thursday, i was invited by coach to a private preview event for the fall 2014 collection, the first designed by new creative director stuart vevers. vevers, formerly of mulberry, has been tasked with reinvigorating coach, and after seeing the clothing, bags, and shoes in person, i can say this isn’t the coach you’re used to. the collection is an ode to american sportswear, meaning shearling coats, button-front shirts, buffalo plaid skirts, baseball jackets, and chunky sweaters, and bags with grommet details and hardware inspired by construction work belts. while the prices for the clothing is comparable for other contemporary brands (think alexander wang, phillip lim), the most expensive of the bags is $1300, with most under $800. unlike many new designers, who come into a new brand and head straight for the archives, vevers is content to chart a new path and it’s refreshing to see. more pics of the fall collection from the preview event are below and check out the spring show on style.com.
