for me, alexander wang’s collections have started to become too much of a one hit wonder (see also balmain). that’s why in looking at his resort collection, i was glad to see him moving beyond the eighties look he’s cultivated into more pieces that are wearable by everyone. in addition to his standby sweatshirt separates (cap sleeve tunics, raw hem shorts, slouchy jackets), there were satin cocoon jackets, drawstring waist leggings and high waist skirts. the draped dresses were standouts, including a short navy sequin (with tulip hem), some jersey cocktail versions and a shoulder heather grey gown that was at once relaxed and glamourous.
