city of renegades.

currently coveting

today was the second renegade craft fair at ft. mason and i went down there to check out some old friends and to see some new crafty-ness, and i was not disappointed.

first off, i noticed that there were more people this time around than last year, and that there were more booths than before. while this could have meant that the rcf was getting soft, it didn’t–all the talent there was solid and ranged from clothing and jewelry to letterpress stationery, kids accessories and housewares.

one of my first stops was to loyalty and blood from brooklyn. i first saw some of their pieces at therapy on valencia street, and have become a fan of their repurposed jewelry and silkscreened letter totes. at the fair, they not only had those pieces but also some cool necklaces and t-shirts with graphics like barking dogs and declassified FBI files.

campfire goods makes t-shirts that help you celebrate your homestate, whether it’s the city of stumps (portland, oregon) or if you say pop and not soda. i found a few shirts about philadelphia (city of crack) as well as some that called out my love of sans serif typefaces. all tees are screenprinted by hand, and most come in men’s and women’s styles.

sara paloma is a potter originally from southern california now based in emeryville who makes gorgeous stoneware bottles, matte vases and nesting bowls. the nesting bowls would make a great wedding or housewarming gift…

lucy machine’s jewelry is inspired by rocks and crystalline structure and she works in stainless steel and sterling silver to create pieces that are at once organic and architectural. i couldn’t resist the “hoop” earrings…can’t wait to wear them out!

other things that caught my eye today:

mateo ilasco’s
mini terrariums

funny t-shirts and hoodies by the girl and the rhino (based in oakland)

wonder thunder’s mini toast pocket friends

the renegade craft fair is free and continues at ft. mason tomorrow afternoon from 11am to 7pm. stop by and check out some of the artisans above, or check out the rcf site to see what other vendors are there.
