spring 2007 milan: versace and jil sander.

donatella versace, who has been transforming versace back into a powerhouse since spring 2006, continued moving the house forward with this collection. the 80s techno collection featured day looks of lean coats, shift minis, high waist tulip skirts, belted rompers, swirl print dolman minidress, cropped elbow sleeve jackets with hip slung shorts, and gold bermudas. for evening, looks included satin empire waist minidresses, black plastic straps and bustiers on micropleated jersey skirts, pailette halters, exposed corsets, chiffon skirts with satin bustiers, and metal plates on silk gowns.

at jil sander, raf simons finally began making the house his own after a few lackluster seasons. the collection was all about color and color mixing: bright button down shirts with black and navy satin skirts, slim trouser suits and looser trousers. jackets came short and boxy or lean and long. there was also an abundance of dresses: a marigold shift with transparent shoulders, kelly green flyaway halter, irridescent tanks, black bubble hem and strapless satin with inset waist, and black, pink, and blue jersey with a keyhole halter or strapless with a swishtail hem, or tank style with a pleated waist.
