most of the time when i’m reading magazines, the editorials are merely fantasy…i’m not going to be leaping around wearing something gorgeous with outrageous and makeup done by pat mcgrath. for shopping, i’m usually looking at the front of the book for ideas or in a magazine like vogue, i’m checking out the index section, which is a great mix of personal style and affordable pieces. in the november issue of lucky magazine, there was an amazing editorial called “8 new basics you’ll wear again & again & again” which really resonated with me for the mere fact that every page was an outfit that one could actually wear. plus, i already had some of them in my closet and this gave me new ideas on how to wear them, like a flared skirt you’ll see in tomorrow’s post, a faux leather front sweater i’ve been wearing with jeans, and this pair of slouchy trousers. i’m also eyeing this coat (a nice copy of the jil sander version) and oversized moto jacket from zara. while it’s great to dream, it’s nice when fashion gives you a good dose of reality.
