this holiday season has been a bit more low-key than in years past…smaller, more intimate get togethers are more common instead of big parties, which suits me just fine. it really gives you the opportunity to really connect with people and truly enjoy the company. but inevitably, because the holidays can also be about spontaneity, an invitation will come up last minute where you need something a bit fancier. i’m a bit believer that every woman should have a dress or two in her closet that makes her feel confident, and for the holidays, a velvet dress fits the bill. this one from express is a different silhouette for me—with a deep v-neck, natural waist, and a wrap midi-skirt—but i still felt amazing in it. whether you go with a tried and true shape or try something new, you should feel like you in it, and when you try (or put) it on, you’ll know.
