the gap, never one to follow, is seemingly the last on the celebrity designer collaboration bandwagon, but that’s just what they announced a few days ago. confirmed in today’s wwd, gap will team with three cfda/vogue fashion fund nominees to create gap design edition (gde). the collection will feature interpretations of that iconic gap item, the white shirt. the designers, doo ri chung, thakoon panichgul and rodarte’s kate and laura mulleavy, won’t have their names on the clothing, but will appear in a huge ad and marketing campaign along with models stella tennant, carmen kass and liya kebede. the campaign, shot by inez van lamsweerde and vinoodh matadin, the ads will be featured in the new york times and a gatefold cover in may’s vogue.

the collection will retail from $68 to $88 starting april 17 and be available at 100 flagship gap locations. gap also announced an agreement with the cfda to arrange for future winners to design limited edition pieces for gap.
