f/w 08.09 haute couture: chanel

collections Uncategorized

karl lagerfeld is always at the top of his game at chanel couture, and this year was no exception. he turned the le grand palais into a giant organ, complete with pipes raising almost all the way up to the dome. the same pipes were an inspiration point for lagerfeld, who said the collection was inspired by a concert he recently saw.

the looks included new takes on the tweed suit, with fur edged dresses and cuffs, or egg shaped jackets with grosgrain ribbon trim. there were also long sleeve dress variations that looked fresh…no 70s style shirtdresses here. the middle section of taffeta day dresses was not my favorite, but i loved the gowns, with embroidered and jeweled tiers and rolled chiffon “tubes.” gorgeous!
