like this past spring, i’m being selective with what is on my shopping list this season. there weren’t any looks or accessories from the runways that i wanted like the balenciaga pumps, but there are more seasonless things that will bring a certain freshness to the pieces already in my wardrobe. at the top of my list were some booties, and with my love of blue and black, these iro ones were perfect. zip sweaters are everywhere, and the tracklist pullover from madewell is my personal favorite…love the ribbing and vertical detailing. finally, a larger crossbody bag that can be used work, weekend, and after hours is a must. while i use my chanel wallet on a chain a lot, it’s not very large (it fits my phone, keys, and a lipstick). the balenciaga le dix cartable can be used as a crossbody or via its top handle.

last month, i put together a list of what was on my fall shopping list, and to keep myself on task, i’m checking in here with what i’ve purchased, what i’ve crossed off the list, and new things i’ve added. keeping this list has helped me not make impulse buys so i can save for some of the more pricier items i’ve been wishing for. so how did i do?

bought:
all saints leather pants: when i was in santa barbara, i debated getting a pair of anine bing leather leggings from dressed that were (miracle of miracles) the proper length on me. i loved the exposed zipper, but was on the fence about a legging rather than a pant. after trying on the all saints version, the decision was easy. personally, i think i’ll get more wear out of a pant.

giles and brother rose gold and black crystal hoop earrings: i originally wanted a smaller rose gold style, but these won out when shopbop had their 3 day fall sale (30% off!)

bauble bar maharaja stud earrings: when bauble bar had their mystery sale last week, i picked up these studs, similar to the ben amun earrings on my wishlist and the warrior triad necklace that i had long wanted.

zara light blue pumps: back when i first moved to sf, i had a pair of light blue nine west pumps that i literally wore to death. they just went with everything and were more interesting that a black or neutral. i loved that these were more of a blue grey.

zara angora sweater: finding a fisherman sweater where i liked the fit and the color proved to be a challenge. i tried on the topshop one at nordstrom, and it was a bit more roomy than i wanted. i do have a dark green one from a few years back, but i’m still hoping to find a neutral one. in the meantime, this off white basketweave texture feels fresh.

laveer camo and herringbone blazer: this was an unexpected purchase, but it felt justified after the tibi skirt fell through (the fit wasn’t flattering on me). when i was shopping at dressed, this blazer instantly jumped out at me. i tried it on with the anine bing leather leggings, which made a fabulous outfit, but it also looked great with the denim shorts i was wearing. of course it was their last one, and it was in my size. sold.

lulu frost for j.crew shoe clips: surprisingly i didn’t have many shoes on my wishlist; these sparklers made any pair of shoes feel brand new. see how i wore them here.

so what’s still on my list:
– a winter coat: i already have the j.crew collection one from last winter that’s still going strong, but i’d love a coat in a color (since most of mine are black or grey)
– wide leg cropped pant: like the fisherman sweater, haven’t found a pair that fits me
– midi skirt: see above
– ankle boot: i really love the rachel zoe pair, but i’m debating if i want calf hair ones, especially with the san francisco rain. been contemplating a pair of suede ones, but again, that rain factor.

how are you doing with your fall/winter shopping list?

last week, i shared what is inspiring me in terms of fall style: simple looks grounded in neutrals. so now i’m putting together my fall shopping list, and i’m going to keep track of what i get and what i end up passing on here. so far i’ve bought this striped suit and black and white prada heels, this sequin sleeve shirt, and a leather-look sweatshirt (picked up at the bloomies friends & family sale).

so what’s on the list? midi skirts, single sole pumps, statement earrings, chunky knits, a pair of leather pants, an oversized coat, wide leg cropped pants…and maybe a bit of marble.
