f/w 07.08 menswear: burberry prorsum and versace.

the f/w 07 mens collections in milan kicked off yesterday and one of my favorite shows is always burberry prorsum. christopher bailey has a knack for dressing men the way i envision them if could dress them everyday. for fall, bailey was in a decidedly military mood, showing chesterfield coats with fur collars and cuffs, heavy aran knit crewnecks and cardigans with leather closures, peacoats with epulets and cargo pockets, puffy anoraks, slim ribbed henleys, bridle belts and officer ankle boots. fingerless gloves and shiny leather bags finished the look.

at versace, donatella versace continued her stripped down elegant mood with a mens collection that was the definition of minimalist. the mostly black and white palette, with shots of plum, charcoal, camel, and burgundy, and brights like red and turquoise, featured slim sweaters worn over button down shirts, herringbone double breasted coats and three piece suits, high collar vests and blazers, suede jackets with knit sleeves, slim pants with patent piping. the end section of tuxedos was equally elegant, the last two looks of a longer coat and a tails version show that donatella is still on a roll, fashion-wise.
