inspired by: monochrome dressing.

inspiration

i'm heading to new york tomorrow for a few reasons: attend some fashion week shows, catch up with friends, gather inspiration, and celebrate my birthday. new york always inspires me and i'm excited to see some art exhibits and explore some new places around the city.

in years past when it came to dressing for fashion week, i felt as though i need to get all of the things and in a way step out of my comfort zone. as i’ve gotten older, i’ve become more comfortable in my personal style and what works for me. so this season, i’m doing more of shopping my closet and mixing things up in new ways. one of those ways is monochromatic outfits. i’ve done this before like here, here, and here, and i’m playing in that space a bit more with color and texture. so expect suiting, slip skirts, sequins, and the occasion sneaker. i gravitate to more neutrals and black, so for me trying something new is experimenting with colors i don’t often wear like yellow and green. most of what i’m bringing is old-ish, like the ulla johnson dress from this post. but there are a few fall items i’m packing, and i’ll be doing a full fall wishlist post soon.

in the meantime, i’ll be documenting my trip on instagram and stories, but let me know if there is anything you want to see, and look out for a big recap of what i’m seeing on the runways here on the blog.
